We invite you to visit one of the most ancient cities of Russia – Veliky Novgorod. Since 1992 historical monuments of Novgorod and its vicinities are entered in the list of the world heritage of UNESCO, and the history of the city is closely connected with development and life of the Russian state.

Today Veliky Novgorod is ready to show tourists the thousand-year churches, majestic walls of the Kremlin, ancient streets and green river banks Volkhov. Novgorod is the city museum of Ancient Russia which has kept a set of monuments of architecture and monumental painting.

Novgorod Kremlin

Novgorod Kremlin Is the main sight that we will visit during the excursion. Today in Kremlin 9 ancient towers, St. Sophia Cathedral, the Sofia belfry and Faceted chamber have remained.

During visiting Kremlin you will see the most ancient models of monumental painting, iconostases, and monuments of the Western European, Russian and Byzantine art. To photograph the Volkhov River and the Trade part of the city from an unusual foreshortening, you can rise by the Sofia belfry located in the Kremlin.

St. Sophia Cathedral

During the excursion we will visit one more symbol of Veliky Novgorod – St. Sophia Cathedral. You will learn how the cathedral looked before contemporaries and what was stored in his walls, you will see an interior and relics which are stored in St. Sophia Cathedral.

Yuryev monastery

We will visit the Novgorod monastery founded in 1030 by Yaroslav the Wise which has been named Yury at a baptism. The monastery is the largest center of the Novgorod church and political life.

During the excursion you will learn which of the Russian princes are buried in cathedral of the monastery, how many temples are in its territory and what is in other housings.


Vitoslavitsa is the museum of national wooden architecture which is located in four kilometers from Veliky Novgorod on the bank of the lake Myachino. Exactly from here the remarkable look on Yuryev monastery, the Lake Myachino, Ryurikovo the ancient settlement and the floodplain of the Volkhov River opens.

During the excursion you will walk on four ethnographic zones of the museum, you will see typical country estates and also visit log huts with open expositions.
